2023 FESTIVAL SCHEDULE

Artist Orientation - Friday, October 20, 2023 - 8:00AM Registration Opens/9:00AM Orientation Begins

Held in the Art Barn of the Sedona Arts Center. During this time artists will get their canvases stamped and go through orientation. Participating Artists are asked to bring two studio paintings of Sedona themed work. Staff will install the studio work in Special Exhibition Gallery (SEG).  Brunch is provided. Artist attendance is required.

Artists Meet & Greet Reception – Friday, October 20, 2023, 4:00-6:00PM

The public is invited to meet the artists in this informal opening at the Art Barn.  This will also be an opportunity for the artists to get to know each other to start the week. Artist attendance is strongly recommended.

Main Street Paint Out – Saturday, October 21, 2023 – 10:00AM-12:00PM

Artists paint in Uptown Sedona on 89A from Sedona Arts Center to Pink Jeep Café.  Awards and sale at 12:30PM. Artist attendance required.

Creekside Paint Out at L’Auberge de Sedona – Tuesday, October 24 – 10:00AM-12:00PM, optional

Shuttle provided from 8:30AM to 1:30PM from Arts Center.  Awards at sale at 12:30PM. Optional event for artists.

Sedona Airport Paint Out and Reception – Wednesday, October 25, Time to be determined.

Awards Night Celebration – Friday, October 27, 2023 - SAC Special Exhibition Gallery & Theatre – 4:00-7:00PM

Final awards will be presented including Best of Show and more.  Our Final Awards Night Judge this year is Tim Newton. Tim Newton is the publisher of Western Art & Architecture magazine. Newton also is chairman emeritus of the famed Salmagundi Club. We are
thrilled to have Tim join us this year!  Artist attendance is required.

Final Sale Day & Artist Games – Saturday, October 28, 2023 – 10:00AM-2:00PM

Artists will be participating in “games” that showcase their flexibility, creativity and ingenuity.  Artist attendance is optional.

Artist demos will take place throughout the week and participating artists will be offered times to demo during the week. 

In order to be eligible for all awards, artists must participate in all REQUIRED events.  Please note that some events are optional.

SALE:  Sedona Arts Center will retain a 40% commission on all sales. All entries must be available for purchase and bear a sale price determined by the submitting artist. Payment for artwork sold occurs in the month following the sale.

AWARDS
Up to $13,000 in awards will presented throughout the week.  In addition, Guerilla Painter and Golden Artist Colors/Williamsburg Oils will provide gift certificates and products. 

Application Requirements

ENTRY PROCESS

The deadline for entries to the 2023 Sedona Plein Air Festival is April 1, 2023. Selected artists will be notified by email no later than April 8th.  Artists must accept the invitation no later than April 14, 2023.

Fees: There is a $30 non-refundable entry fee per application. Should an artist be selected, the $30 fee will be applied against the $150 fee that is required for each participating artist. 

Image Format:  Each artist must submit a minimum of five (5) professional-quality images of their plein air artwork in JPEG format with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI. Images should include the title of the piece in the file name. In addition, please list the title, dimensions, medium and price of your pieces on the Entry Form. Note:  By entering this show the artist consents to promotional use of their accepted artwork.

Entering Your Images:   List sizes up to the nearest inch.  Submitted images must not include matting or frame.  Crop the photos to include only the artwork.  Be sure your images are right-side-up. 

Eligibility Criteria

The event is open to all artists 18 years and older with plein air experience. Please include relevant plein air experience in the résumé that is submitted with your application
